Several options for flexible work arrangements are presented. Supervisors should use the flexible work arrangement that is most appropriate for the business, the kind of job and the situation of employees. The compressed workweek entails working longer hours for four days a week. Telecommuting entails the use of computers, the telephone and fax machines to enable employees to work at home or in other places outside the office. Job sharing involves the negotiated sharing of one job by two or three people.
