VETERANS DENIED USE OF VILLAGE HALL; CAMILLUS MAYOR CITES SECURITY ISSUES, SAYS GROUP MUST REQUEST USE OF PUBLIC ROOM.(Local)

For about 20 years, a group of Camillus veterans held their monthly meetings at Camillus Village Hall.

Now, the village's new mayor has told the members of Camillus VFW Post 8664 they need to find another gathering place.

Tom Grant, who was elected in March, said in a Nov. 15 letter to post Commander Gordon Storrings the veterans could not hold their meetings at Village Hall because of "building security issues." Grant said village Code Enforcement Officer John Williams' office is upstairs and someone had recently fiddled with his computer and items on his desk.

The veterans say there were never security issues in the 20 years ...
