Support needed for nurses offering HIV counselling.(WORLD news)(Report)(Brief article)

Nurses in the Limpopo province of South Africa are not receiving adequate support while delivering voluntary counselling and testing (VET) services for people with HIV/AIDS according to a study published in the latest Nursing and Health Sciences journal.

More than 300 nurses were trained to provide VCT in Limpopo Province over the past six years but only 20 nurses are currently delivering VCT.

The VCT nurses interviewed, reported experiencing inadequate resources, emotional drain and frustration due to certain behaviours and practices of clients and community members.
