Gophers football coach Tim Brewster said the way his defense played this season led to some sleepless nights. It also left him little choice but to hit the junior college ranks with the hope of finding immediate help.
Brewster announced Wednesday the addition of four junior college players, all of whom will join the program in January and should have an instant impact on defense. The team also officially announced that former Cretin-Derham Hall star offensive lineman Matt Carufel has joined the program after leaving Notre Dame this season. He must sit out the 2008 season under NCAA rules.
