THE former chairman of the Northamptonshire Police Authority said she is particularly pleased with her OBE after being nominated from within the force.

Dr Marie Dickie, who stepped down as head of the authority this year after 13 years, said the most pleasing aspect of the honour was being acknowledged by people she respected.

She said: "I'm obviously pleased and it's actually quite hard to describe the feeling

"I feel pleased that the work I have done all these years has been recognised by those that put me forward and that it has been important enough that they care about it.
