How to avoid kidney stones. (dietary aids may help prevent stone formation and lithotripsy may destroy them if they do form)

Limiting the intake of foods that provide kidney stone-forming substances is one way to prevent them. The link between food and stone formation is discussed as well as the importance of water in the diet. Studies with cranberry juice indicate that it may help to prevent kidney disease.
