I'm not very good at saying goodbye.

After spending the first 11 years of my Post career (from late May 1970 through July 1981) at The Kentucky Post, where I held four positions -- assistant sports editor, sports editor, deputy news editor and news editor -- it was tough to say goodbye to persons I sat with, persons who trained me to be a better journalist, persons who I did my best to train to become valuable employees, persons who were my friends.

My next job was production director for The Kentucky Post and The Cincinnati Post, which required me to spend my workdays for 22 years at the morning paper's printing facility where The Post editions were printed. For ...
