SAM Allardyce has admitted he feels let down by Joey Barton's behaviour - but he refuses to say whether the player's Newcastle United career is now in jeopardy.

The midfielder will spend New Year's Eve behind bars, having been remanded in custody after appearing before magistrates in Liverpool last Friday on charges of common assault and affray relating to an incident in the city in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Barton had returned tot his native Liverpool after the Boxing Day defeat at o Wigan Athletic, for which he was left out of the side.
