DES MOINES, Iowa - The showdown between former Bay State Gov. Mitt Romney and his chief Iowa rival Mike Huckabee went from biting to bizarre yesterday as the ex-Arkansas governor announced he would not air a new attack ad slamming Romney but then promptly showed the TV ad anyway at a press conference - prompting loud cackles from the press corps.

Huckabee claimed he had a change of heart just before the first scheduled airing of the ad in Iowa and that his decision was so last-minute that it angered many staffers, who only learned he pulled the ad at a press conference yesterday afternoon.
