CORVALLIS - The Oregon State women's basketball team trailed by three points during the final minute of a recent game when Ashley Allen was asked to make a play for the Beavers.
It was a surprising role for a player who entered this season with a career scoring average of 4.5 points. Yet there was Allen driving to the right, pulling up along the baseline, hoping her shot could help her team accelerate a similar rebirth it once gave her.
But the shot rimmed out, and the Beavers ultimately lost to Idaho State, 79-73, on Dec. 10.
