DAK LAK, Jan 3 Asia Pulse - Vietnam's central highlands region has recorded strong socio-economic development in 2007 and local living conditions have been improved, the Steering Committee for Central Highlands affairs reported at a conference in Dak Lak province on January 1.

Despite adverse weather, the region achieved economic growth of 15 per cent, attained a production value of more than 42 trillion VND ($US2.62 billion) and mobilised almost 20 trillion VND for development.

Thanks to the development of industrial crops, the central highlands provinces earned more than $US1 billion from exports.
