Supercenter/club sales rose 7% in October over year earlier.(REPORT)(increase in sales of stores )(Statistical table)

The Census Bureau reported that warehouse clubs and supercenters recorded sales of $26.3 billion in October, the latest month for which data is available--7% more than in 2006. This brought cumulative 2007 sales to $250.3 billion--9.2% more than a year earlier.

Drug stores and pharmacies rang up sales of $16.9 billion during the month, up 4% from a year earlier, and more than double the 1.7% gain posted during September. Year-to-date sales totaled $164.4 billion--5.9% more than last year.

Electronic retailer sales, meanwhile, jumped 9.7% during October to $17.4 billion and sales for the Jan. 1-Nov. 1 period totaled $157.8 billion or 9.3% more than the same period in ...
