FDA issued a Federal Register Notice ("Notice") requesting comments, scientific data, and information in order to assist the agency in its plans to conduct a risk assessment for Listeria monocytogenes in soft-ripened cheese. 72 Fed. Reg. 67,310 (Nov. 28, 2007) (copy attached). The requested comments, scientific data, and information must be submitted by Jan. 28, 2008.
The purpose of the risk assessment is to ascertain the impact on public health from the reduction and/or prevention of L. monocytogenes growth and recontamination during the manufacturing and/or processing of soft-ripened cheese.
