A "THREE strikes and you're out" policy is to be introduced by Midlothian Council towards its council house waiting list.
Under the new set-up, which will come into force on January 1, those on the waiting list will be able to refuse properties three times before being removed from the register.
Endorsing the new housing policy last week, Councillor Peter Boyes explained that penalties were to be introduced to reduce the number of refusals, offers and length of void periods.
