Dalkeith 17 Edinburgh Northern 3
Dalkeith were made to work hard to maintain their unbeaten start to the season against Edinburgh Northern, in this first round tie of the Scottish Hydro Electric Cup.
Dalkeith began sprightly up the slope and were immediately pressuring the Edinburgh Northern line, with captain Halliday unlucky not to ground the ball after a drive over the line. Northern cleared the pressure, but Dalkeith immediately drove back into the Northern 22 and only some laboured passing and stout Northern defence stopped an opening score. At this point Dalkeith lost influential No.8 Greig to a bad head knock and he was replaced by Long.
