PLANS to modernise the county police force, which could see up to 400 police officer jobs go, have been condemned.
Senior officers have started a review of the force to help it meet the growing demand for policing services and increasing financial constraints.
The force currently employs 1,321 police officers and 1,244 police staff but proposals emerging from the review suggest the number of police officers could be reduced over time by up to 400 and the number of police staff posts increased by about 340.
