Anthony Griffith fired home from 25 yards just past the hour mark to give Town thir third win in four games.
And it was no less than the Shaymen deserved after they dominated the game with the Cards.
Griffith hammered the ball in off the underside of the bar after Tom Kearney's free kick had been cleared.
And they almost added a second with 13 minutes remaining, but Matt Doughty's well struck shot came back off a post.
