LANCASTER's young side were given a battering at St. Annes on Saturday as they succumbed to the home side's ruthless performance.

With good weather and a rare hard wicket, Lancaster captain Tim Barry had no doubts in batting first after winning the toss.

It was Barry and Michael Stevens that opened Lancaster's innings, and they got off to a steady start with Barry striking the ball well.

But the early introduction of spin in the form of sub-professional Mansoor Ahmed and Michael Baer that stopped Lancaster in their tracks.
