East meets West on Wearside tomorrow.
A delegation of top government officials from the Chinese city of Harbin is visiting Sunderland this week to explore new trade, educational and cultural links between the two cities.
As the provincial capital of Heilongjiang Province in North East China, Harbin is much larger than Sunderland with a population of 9.7million people, but has similarities with the city in terms of its significance in the region.
City bosses believe forging new links with a city which boasts more than 30 universities and an economy which is growing at more than 10 per cent a year, could provide a perfect base for Sunderland ...
