SHOPPERS watched in horror as a guide dog leading a blind pensioner through Sheffield city centre was mauled by another dog.
The incident, on Pinstone Street, resulted in the frightened guide dog running into the road to try to escape as brave shoppers stepped in to stop the fight.
It is feared the guide dog may be unable to work again - leaving its owner "stranded" without its support.
The guide dog's owner has declined to comment about the ordeal, but passers-by said they were left "physically shaken".
