Nearly thirty years have passed since I first hunted in what is now Namibia, then called South-West Africa. I fell in love with its wide-open spaces and spectacular vistas, and ever since have remained a faithful visitor. Namibia has much to offer. It is a big, sparsely populated country, with rugged mountains, vast deserts, oceans of savanna and thornbush, and a clean and pleasant environment. Namibia, home to numerous tribes such as Ovambo, Herero, and clans of the San Bushmen, was originally colonized in the nineteenth century as German South-West Africa.
