ACTIVISTS from the South Downs Campaign (SDC) are determined 2008 will see the South Downs become a National Park.
And the lobbyists hope Lewes and Ditchling - which are currently left out of the proposals - will be included. They are set to hammer their point home when the inquiry reconvenes in February.
Paul Millmore, vice chairman of the campaign, said: 'The inspector's arguments why Lewes and the Ouse Valley should be excluded are full of inconsistencies. He says the area should be a chalk national park and fails to recognise that the very fabric of Lewes is set in chalk. To say Lewes is not embedded in the Downs is laughable.'
