IT'S no secret that new homes are wanted in Huddersfield and its surrounding areas.

But just how many, what kind and where to put them has been a big question for years.

Soon though, major leaps may be made towards making it happen. And it's raising fears that hundreds - if not thousands - of homes will have to be built on countryside.

Kirklees Council has drawn up a plan to build almost 22,000 additional homes by 2021 and then another 8,000 by 2026.
