(Editor's note - the following interview with Guillaume Paul Deere president of John Deere France, soon to retire after more than 30 years of service to the company, was recently conducted by I&T's European correspondent, Bernard Tixier. Questions are designated I&T; answers are designated JDF.)
I&T: How is John Deere organized in France?
JDF: In 1959, John Deere joined three French farm machine manufacturers in the Compagnie Continentale de Motoculture (CCM), a marketing partnership. On April 1 of that year, Compagnie Francaise John Deere (CFJD) was formed, and a tractor plant was built in Saran, located in the Loiret area of France.
