LANCASTER - A house fire that broke out on Fort Pond Road Friday morning was caused by debris between a fireplace and a wall, according to an investigation by the Lancaster Fire Department and the office of the state fire marshal.
The fire, at 260 Fort Pond Road, was reported around 5:41 a.m. Friday. Lancaster firefighters said the owner reported smoke coming from the eves of the house and responding fire crews discovered a fire in the attic. Mutual aid was activated. Shirley sent a tanker truck and Leominster sent a ladder truck to the scene of the fire.
