WASHINGTON -- The United States is in the middle of a battle over how religious freedom will be guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. The Catholic church is sitting this one out.
At issue on several fronts is whether Proposition One in the Christian Coalition's 10-point Contract with the American Family (NCR, June 2), will make it through Congress.
The coalition calls for "Restoring Religious Equality: a constitutional amendment to protect the religious liberties of Americans in public places."
