EMBATTLED Hillary Clinton made a dramatic comeback in the race for theWhite House today as early results from the crucial New Hampshire primaryshowed her edging ahead of Barack Obama.

The neck-and-neck battle was at odds with a brace of polls that gave Obama a 13per cent lead over the former First Lady. John Edwards was almost certain tofinish a distant third.

On the Republican side, less than 30 minutes after the poll closed,commentators were projecting John McCain as the winner of the Republicannomination in New Hampshire.
