A request for a discount at Oswego's city ice rink got a chilly reception from city councilors.
The Oswego Figure Skating Club will hold its Port City Invitational ice skating competition Feb. 1 to 3 and is seeking a break in the rink's $80 per hour rate.
Club officials, who sought the discount from the council's Administrative Services committee Monday, were hoping to get the rink for $40 an hour.
The 30-hour event is expected to draw 24 figure skating clubs from New York and Quebec.
Without the discount some clubs may drop out, said club President Daniel J. Mather.
