2008 may be the year Ohio gets serious about work force development.
"Work force has emerged as a galvanizing issue,'' Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher told Crain's Cleveland Business after an economic development strategy meeting in Independence in December. "This is the issue that transcends all other issues. This is one of our greatest challenges.''
Mr. Fisher said the goal is to make Ohio's worker training system more a part of the state's economic development programs to retain and attract businesses. It will be focused on tailoring training programs to meet employer needs in the various regions of the state.
