CARTE DIAMOND, one of the unluckiest horses in training, is on the vergeof an amazing comeback.

The seven-year-old has returned to trainer Brian Ellison's Yorkshire stable andcommenced a training programme that his trainer hopes will see him racing inMay.

The gelding, who was second to Sergeant Cecil in the 2005 Ebor Handicap and haswon five of his 11 starts, has not run since he finished ninth that year in theCaulfield Cup in Australia.

That was considered a good trial for the Melbourne Cup, but Ellison'senterprise in sending him on the 10,000-mile journey Down Under was notrewarded by good fortune.
