HOLLYWOOD -- Hollywood's longtime honorary mayor Johnny Grant died Wednesday night in his bed at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, police said.
Grant, who was expected at an event, was found in his bed when acquaintances checked on him, police said.
Perhaps Hollywood's longest-serving and most tireless promoter, Grant always dressed smartly in a suit and tie and displayed an enthusiasm and style that harkened back to Hollywood's Golden Era.
"If anyone did manage to keep Hollywood as good as it was, it was Johnny Grant," Tom Hatten, a veteran radio and television personality, told KCAL (Channel 9).
