These days, the compact disc is the ticket for installing new 32-bit operating systems and huge applications. Why bother rotating dozens of floppies when prompted for hours on end, when you've got a wonderful CD-ROM drive in your system?
Application installs are a dream. Once your operating system recognizes your CD-ROM, it will have no problems reading a CD. Ah, but what about the initial installation of the operating system? It's difficult enough to install a 32-bit operating system, but adding a CD-ROM-based install to the mix can tip the frustration meter well into the red zone.
