A BIG budget Hollywood film to be directed in North East England by Sir Ridley Scott has been put on hold.
The South Shields-born director's plans have been derailed by the ongoing screenwriters' strike in America.
Representatives of the director have visited the region to line up locations for Nottingham, which was set to star Oscar-winning actor Russell Crowe.
The film will be a retelling of the Robin Hood story, but from the perspective of the Sheriff of Nottingham, cast as the hero caught between Prince John and the outlaw Robin.
Sir Ridley's team was keen to use locations in the region such as Alnwick ...
