AMUSLIM teenager from Warrington who feared she was being forced into an arranged marriage by her parents suffered a "vile murder", a coroner said yesterday.
Ruling that Shafilea Ahmed, 17, was unlawfully killed, Ian Smith said the concept of an arranged marriage was "central" to the circumstances leading up to her death.
Her body was discovered after heavy floods washed away the dense undergrowth it was hidden in on the banks of the River Kent at Sedgwick, Cumbria, in February 2004, after she had disappeared the previous September.
