Simplifying steam trap selection.

The choice by plant engineers of the appropriate steam trap to buy and use depends much on their understanding of the principles behind the equipment, the application desired and the situation under which such equipment is to operate. Likewise, the engineer will have to choose among characteristics such as easy installation, air handling effectiveness and energy efficiency in their purchasing decision. The four usual kinds of steam traps are controlled disc, inverted bucket, thermostatic and a combination of the latter with float.
