In the fall of 1970, "the oil of ordination still wet" on his hands, Father Vincent Twomey went to Munster to begin doctoral studies, attending the lectures of Jesuit giant Karl Rahner. Twomey describes the sense of frustration that gradually overcame the class as the students tried to engage the world famous theologian in discussion. He recalls how hard it was for Rahner to hide his impatience during student presentations as he anxiously waited for the chance to begin his "monologue."
