Billy Davies has stunned Preston fans by telling the Deepdale faithful: "I'd love to manage the club again one day."
Former Deepdale boss Davies - sacked by Derby County in November - says he is saddened by Preston North End's plight at the foot of the Championship - but insists North End will avoid the drop.
He believes new boss Alan Irvine will guide Preston to Championship safety in the coming months.
"I'm very surprised and extremely disappointed to see Preston in trouble, but there is no doubt in my mind that they will get out of it," said Davies.
"North End are only two or three wins away from pulling themselves clear of trouble. ...
