To break up my long Christmas holiday I decided to try the new Eurostar service from St Pancras to Paris, staying for one night.
The first problem was how to get to St Pancras as Network Rail infamously decided to dig up Rugby over the holiday period, so my choice was narrowed down to Chiltern Railways to Marylebone.
It is interesting to compare the two journeys which clearly illustrates the problems faced by our railways today.
For a trip taken on December 27, it was a case of Birmingham to London in 140 minutes and ...
