Bertie Ahern feels he has been subjected to a cross-examination that crossed the line into the deeply personal, says Jody Corcoran
Des O'Neill, the Mahon Tribunal lawyer, began his cross-examination of the Taoiseach on December 20 by stating: "It will be necessary in the course of today's examination to touch upon your matrimonial separation."
In the public gallery, there was a collective intake of breath. In the witness box, Bertie Ahern winced, apparently distrusting of O'Neill, unsure where his intended line of questioning might lead.
Aware of the obvious ...
