Exclusive R&D Magazine survey reveals what researchers use and need in data acquisition software and hardware.
An evolving research environment and new technologies are prompting dramatic changes in data acquisition systems and how researchers use them, but the large installed base of existing systems still dominates the overall market.
"Graphical user interfaces have shown dramatic improvements in our data acquisition work," says one researcher. "It's now the method of choice in our R&D."
Tighter research budgets also limit increased deployment of new data acquisition technologies. "Wireless systems still cost too much," says another researcher.
