A: Nope! Menstrual blood often starts out red, but it can appear brown or nearly black if it takes your uterine muscles a few days to push it out. This stagnation makes the blood darker. Also, remember that menstrual flow is made up of more than blood. There are also bits of uterine lining and other fluids, which may be sticky.
