Grace Paley, one of the most admired and best loved writer/activists in the United States, died on August 22, 2007. Born December 11, 1922, in the Bronx, Grace was the child of Russian Jewish immigrants who were thoughtful, politically conscious, loving people. Throughout her life, Grace was all of those things. Well known for her peace movement and anti-militarism work, her commitment to environmentalism, her publicly developing feminism and her anti-racism, Grace's international reputation as a writer of stories and poems became inseparable from her political work.
