COLUMN: IN OUR OPINION

In a nod to Worcester's efforts to address homelessness, the Special Commission to End Homelessness in the Commonwealth has incorporated several of the forward-thinking ideas developed in this city in its new report.

Several of the recommendations from the special commission mirror the philosophy adopted by city policymakers and service providers, including the idea of reducing dependence on emergency shelters by moving people quickly into permanent housing where they can get the help they need to overcome the problems that made them homeless and to get back on their feet.
