AN Asian taxi driver may need facial surgery after an alleged attack by a passenger.
Detectives believe the incident may have been racially motivated.
Police say the man, 34, of Pakistani origin, had to pull over in Sheriff Street, Hartlepool, when a passenger became aggressive.
The cab driver got out of his car but his passenger followed, punched him in the face, shouted abuse and kicked the door of the taxi.
The driver managed to get back inside his vehicle and drive off.
He drove to the University Hospital of Hartlepool and was treated for a fracture to the left side of his face, which ...
