Think of "Veganomicon" as "The Joy of Cooking" for vegans - vegetarians who eat no meat, dairy or other animal byproducts.
"This was our version of the perfect vegan cookbook," said Isa Chandra Moskowitz, author of the award-winning "Vegan with a Vengeance," who wrote "Veganomicon" with Terry Hope Romero, her collaborator on "Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World."
"It's not as exhaustive (as `Joy'), but we try and teach the basics as well as giving some well-tested recipes."
That's more than 250 recipes, ranging from everyday to special-occasion dishes that Moskowitz says she wished she'd grown up with.
