A MOVE to prevent nine licensed premises in Stornoway to have late licences running into Sunday morning was ruled out by the Western Isles Licensing Board today (Wednesday).
The premises - the Clachan, Lewis, Caledonian, Whaler's Rest, Lodge Fortrose, Stornoway Golf Club, the Royal British Legion, the Star Inn and the Hebridean Night Club - had all applied for late licences between 11.00pm on Saturday to 1.00am on Sunday.
However, the Stornoway Free Church Kirk Session objected to all the applications, saying that to grant them would cause 'undue disturbance or public nuisance and be to the detriment of the amenity of those ...
