Additional Rooms Should Help Attract Bigger Conventions

The Imminent Announcement that a 104-room Hampton Inn will be built in Pine Bluff is expected to mean that the city will be able to attract bigger and better convention business.

Allen & O'Hara Inc., Memphis-based real estate developers, are "real, real close" to closing a deal for about 2.5 acres at U.S. Highway 65 and Market Street near The Pines mall, says Olan Brevard, the firm's vice president for real estate.

Brevard says the three-story hotel is scheduled for opening "at the very latest, next summer. We're hoping for April or May."
