The big story: K&D Group of Willoughby plans to remake the southeast corner of Euclid Avenue and East Ninth Street into a $200 million, mixed-use complex with a boutique hotel, office and retail space and at least 543 residential loft units. The company will pay Cuyahoga County $35 million for the vacant Ameritrust complex that had been planned as a new county administration building when county commissioners paid $21.7 million for the property in 2005. K&D chief executive officer Doug Price described the purchase as part of a larger plan to redevelop almost 10 city blocks in Cleveland's central business district.
