MOUNTAIN climber Steve Berry has been forced to return home from South America by a family bereavement.
Mr Berry flew out to Bolivia on Thursday, January 10, for talks with new aid organisation Mision Bolivia, before heading on to Mendoza in Argentina to climb Mount Aconcagua with a pal.
But the 52-year-old grandfather had to return to his home in Central Avenue, Harton, South Shields, this week after being told the sad news.
"Due to bereavement, I really need to be with my family right now," he said.
Mr Berry was planning to spend several weeks in Bolivia representing his company Cracking Days Out.
