Welcome, readers, to the 2006 issue of Vitae Scholasticae! When putting this issue together we had fun finding threads and themes that carried through the articles. In "Illich's Table," Daniel Grego offers us a lovely meditation on the ideas of Ivan Illich who died in 2002. He begins with the provocative question, "What are people for?" and proceeds to examine Illich's ideas about community, purpose, and hope. Indeed, the question, "What are people for?" is one asked, pursued, and answered by the other writers in this issue.
